Day one of our deck project. Damn, this is a big deck. I guess we don't realize how big it is until we have to work on it. We start with sanding. We did four rounds with this monster – two
with 36 grit and two with 60 grit.
While Dean took the sander back, I sanded
the railings and started the scraping.
Yes, scraping. Moss grows between the boards in the spring.
It dies off in the summer, but leaves this crud behind, so all the sides of the
boards need to be scraped.
Here’s the high-tech specialized piece of equipment I use
for that. I’ll have to finish by dinnertime. Dean will need my deck scraper to flip
the burgers.
